I am thrilled and deeply honoured to share that I have received a noble recognition and distinction from the Embassy of Colombia in the United Kingdom. On 4th July 2024, the Colombian Ambassador to the UK, Dr. Roy Barreras Montealegre, graciously presented me with this esteemed accolade for my contributions and positioning as an illustrious Colombian in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

This recognition is not just a personal milestone but a testament to the collective efforts and support of my colleagues, clients, and the legal community. My journey as a barrister at 1EC Barristers Chambers has been profoundly shaped by my commitment to justice, equality, and inclusivity. This award acknowledges my work in international and domestic commercial law, as well as civil practice areas such as defamation, professional negligence, human rights law, and chancery.

My practice involves both advisory and litigation roles, appearing in the Commercial Court, King’s Bench Division, Chancery Division, Immigration Appeals Tribunal, and Employment Tribunals. Additionally, collaborating with foreign lawyers, particularly Latin American attorneys and legal attachés of Latin American Embassies in London, has been a significant part of my professional journey.

This honour also reflects my dedication to advocating for those who are less able, drawing from my personal experiences as a Colombian immigrant in the UK. It is a privilege to use my platform to build bridges between the UK and Latin American legal communities, promoting justice and fairness.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Colombian Embassy for this recognition and to everyone who has supported me along the way. This accolade is a source of inspiration and motivation to continue striving for excellence in my legal practice.

Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement.

Warm regards,

Diego F. Soto-Miranda
